Q8Abroad is a blog that will talk about Midoe “Ahmad Marafi”, whom is a Kuwaiti student studying abroad in the United States of America. It will talk mainly about his experience and the problems he faces and so on. It will also talk about the new technologies and gadgets (Electronic Devices).
So, Who’s Ahmad Marafi?
I’m an 18 years old Kuwaiti, born on the 21st of May 1989, who is going to be an international student in the United States in January 2008. You might know me, I had a show on Kuwait TV back in 2000. It was called “Digital Kids” and it talked about computers, software, hardware, and gadgets. I had to end it in 2003 because the director started facing some problems.
After 2 years he asked me to go back and start the show again but I couldn’t do it because I had to get ready to travel to the United States as I was accepted in the Youth Exchange and Study Program “YES”. It runs in Kuwait through AMIDEAST and its about sending students from the Arab and Muslim world to the US and allow them to study in a high school for a whole year. I got sent to the Bay Area in California and I had to live with a host family and they were really great. It was a really good and fun experience even though I faced so many problems such as breaking my leg “Both bones, Tibia and Fibula” and going through surgery. I’m really thankful for the people who are responsible for this program as it changed my life. It taught me how to depend on myself and respect different opinions. I’m sure that this experience will affect my life going back to the US and studying in an American university for the next four years. I’m willing to share my thoughts with you guys about my experience here and tell you people how hard are the Kuwaiti students working to get their parents proud. Wish me luck.
